Parenthood can be overwhelming, from best practices for nutrition to developmental milestones and safe sleep, new parents have a lot to learn.

That's where you can help.

The Community Baby Shower connects new and expectant parents experiencing economic hardship with maternal and early childhood education and resources, and helps to relieve some of the financial burden a baby can bring. Hosted by Women United, this inaugural celebration aims to help more than 50 families get a stronger start.

Volunteer Opportunities

PACKING PARTY – Friday, June 4, 2021

Help create the no-sew Baby Blankets for 100 families in need! These cute, beginner friendly kits come with easy instructions and can be completed in 45-60 minutes. Your HFUW Team will be there to guide you, and all materials will be provided. Additionally, we will be using volunteers to package resource folders for each family in need to ensure they have access to supporting organizations in the future. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks to help make this experience a party with their friends, family, and fellow volunteers.

PACKING PARTY – Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Help create the 100 Basics for Baby Gift Bags that will be distributed to families served by the Community Baby Shower. In addition to packing, we will need volunteers to help write and decorate congratulatory cards for each family. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks to help make this experience a party with their friends, family, and fellow volunteers.

WOMEN UNITED PACKING PARTY – Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Exclusively for Women United members and friends, this activity will provide volunteers with the option to make no-sew blankets, package kits and resource folders, or decorate cards for the 100 families being served by the Community Baby Shower.

DISTRIBUTION DAY – Saturday, June 12, 2021

Volunteers will assist with the Drive-Thru Baby Shower from set up to break down. This socially distanced activity will use volunteers to manage a variety of drive-thru stations distributing essential baby items to families in need. This will include distributing Basics for Baby Gifts Bags, boxed lunches, and a special dessert to each family as they drive-thru. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water and snacks, and to dress for the summer weather. Don't forget the sunscreen!
